another ballet story - e red shoes

A young woman sees in the window of a shop a pair of red shoes,
which are offered to her by the demonic shoemaker.
She puts them on and begins to dance with her boyfriend.
They go to a carnival, where she seemingly forgets about him as she dances with every man she comes across.
Her boyfriend is carried away and nothing is left of him but his image on a piece of cellophane, which she tramples.
She attempts to return home to her mother, but the red shoes, controlled by the shoemaker, keep her dancing.
Finally she falls into the netherworld of the demimonde, where she dances with a piece of newspaper which turns briefly into her boyfriend.
She is beset by grotesque creatures, including the shoemaker, who converge upon her in a manner reminiscent of the Rite of spring, but who abruptly disappear, leaving her alone.
No matter where she flees, the shoes refuse to stop dancing.
Near death from exhaustion, clothed in rags, she finds herself in front of the church where a funeral is in progress.
Her boyfriend, now a priest, offers to help her.
She motions to him to take the shoes off, and as he does so, she dies.
He carries her into the church, and the shoemaker retrieves the shoes,
to be offered to his next victim.

THE STORY OF GISELLE

Act 1

Giselle, a young peasant girl has fallen in love

with Count Albrecht, who is tired of his life at

court and is disguised as a peasant. Hilarion,

one of the villagers who is in love with Giselle,

tries to warn her that Albrecht is a noble who is

already engaged to Bathilde and can never

marry a simple village girl like Giselle.

Giselle and Hilarion dance at the grape

harvest, where Giselle is crowned the Harvest

Queen. Giselle’s mother Berthe warns her of

the dancing ghosts called Wilis in the nearby

forest that rise from their graves at night and

lure men to their deaths. She wants Giselle to

stop dancing because she is so delicate.

Bathilde and her father arrive in the village and

are welcomed by Giselle and the villagers.

Giselle and Bathilde become friends and

discover they are both in love and engaged to

be married.

Hilarion finds Albrecht’s sword with his real

name on it and uses it to prove to Giselle that

Albrecht is not who she thinks he is. Giselle

rushes over to Bathilde and when she sees

Albrecht’s engagement ring she realises she

has been betrayed! She is completely

overcome and, after wildly dancing her grief

and passion, she dies, her heart broken.

Act 2

Hilarion prays at Giselle’s grave deep in the

forest. He is captured by Queen Myrtha and

her band of Wilis. Wilis are girls who, like

Giselle, have died before their wedding day.

Myrtha forces Hilarion to dance until he

collapses and dies.

When Albrecht arrives, full of sadness for what

he has done, Myrtha decides that Giselle must

dance with him until he dies. Through the

night, they dance a beautiful pas de deux

together. Despite his betrayal, Giselle still loves

Albrecht. She dances with him until dawn when

the power of the Wilis vanishes and they must

return to their graves.

Albrecht is exhausted and near death as day

beaks. Giselle holds Albrecht one last time and

then must return to her tomb, but she has

managed to protect him and save his life.

There was an interesting article on the recent copy of Mypaper.
It wrote about how we can pursuit happiness through our daily activities
and there was a short quiz to test if you are a happy person too.
My answers was mostly “A”, indeed I am quite happy person.
cos I forget unhappy things fast

Above that phase by Dale Carnegie,
“Success is getting what you want, but happiness is wanting what you get”.
Simple happiness comes from appreciating
and feeling grateful for what you attain and where you are.

i was on my way home from NTU this evening
and what i had seen on the train
around 730pm
the train was quite crowded cos it's weekend
and families were out to town
at tht hr everyone was going home as well; just like me
due to the crowd the surrounding was damn noise
fat young couples kissing and touching
and
kids were yelling and running around
(can u imagine how they can do tht in the train)

suddenly, there was this "something" attract my attention

took half day MC, due to "noise Syndrome"
as branch is under renovation,
the f***ing knocking and drilling make me so sick
plus the dust, the whole place was so suffocating
the knocking made my heart beat damn fast
den i start to sweat, breathless
felt giddy and vision become so blur
in the end no choice went to the doctor
and she give me half day MC
cos in the afternoon the knocking would continue
so no point stay and make myself suffer
GOD~~~!
but this is going on for another 8 more weeks
how am i going to survive?
